In a way, I believe that there was a violation of their right to privacy, when the cameras were turned on and began to record the workers and the couple that was involved.Even though there is plenty to discuss when it comes to their right to privacy, the workers who started & were involved, had to have some kind of idea about the company finding out about the situation. In many companies, you must agree to sign a statement that basically enables the company officals to do whatever necessary, when it comes to protecting the company and the other employees.
In planning the whole operation,I also believe that it was very unethical for the employees to handle the situation in the manner that they did. One famous philosopher, Aristotle, who believed in reason, would find this operation also very unethical, but would also think about why they did it.Being a man of reason and moderation, Aristotle would have felt as if there were plenty of other ways for the problem to be solved. In his thoughts, there would be several steps created, in order to come to a final conclusion, that would've ended in lying about any occupation or living situation. The first step would be to address the problem and lay out all the possible outcomes that would later possibly be to everyone's advantage while still being ethical inside the workplace.
In From my view, it's kind of difficult for me to think of a reason for why they chose to do what they did. One thing that I wonder about is why the emplyees chose the couple that they did, and what did the couple give in exchange for the company's favor. And with the employees representing a company, I would think that they would have enough common sense to not go and proceed it an operation as such.
But one of the major problems with ACORN, is that the company hires most of its employees off the street, literally. If I were in charge of running a business, I would probably do a lot of questioning about a applicant who applied gracefully, but recently returned from prison or rehab. One of my questions would be what did he/she do in order to get arrested in the first place or how long was he/she addicted to drugs. Personally, I wouldnt want someone in those types of situations representing my company.
I am all for giving people a second chance and I also believe that not everyone is a bad person. But when you have people that pull stunts like this, especially within a huge & famous company, I would really start to think about who my employess are and who I'm able to trust. You have to also take into prospective what the company and its employees are entitled & have access to, which will also tell you what youyr employees are capable of.
